Simon Whitehouse CSyP CPP PSP FSyI MIET RISC MIAPSC

Founder and Managing Director

Simon is a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), an ASIS International qualified Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) & holder of various BTEC Professional qualifications in security technology disciplines. He is a former elected director of the Association of Security Consultants, a Fellow of The Security Institute, a member of the Security Institute Validation Board and holds other professional memberships with ASIS International, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). Simon has over 30 years of experience as a security practitioner, with the last 11 years focused on consulting and programme management assignments. In the United Arab Emirates, Simon is a Dubai Police - Department of Protective Systems licensed Security Consultant. Simon works internationally leading the SGW team on Security Consultancy.

Matt Bruce GCGI MIET MSyI RISC

Associate Director

Matt joined SGW in 2017, to take up the post of Associate Director of Consulting, working from our Dubai office in the United Arab Emirates. Matt s a Graduate of the City & Guilds Institute (BA (Hons) equivalent) a Member of the Security Institute (MSyI), a Member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET) and a Registered Independent Security Consultant. Matt has had a long and distinguished career in the Security Industry covering 35 years. For 18 of those years he has worked exclusively in the Middle East Oil & Gas Industry, having spent 7 years in Saudi Arabia, working on a major contract involving security design and implementation across a number of ARAMCO oil facilities. During his employment as a Senior Technical Security Consultant with G4S he was embedded with the Kuwait Oil Company and was instrumental in the Security Vulnerability Assessment, Design and implementation for the Security of all KOC Oilfield Facilities Project.

Richard Roberts BSc (hons) MSc CCTP MIET

Senior Security Consultant

Richard is a highly technically competent security practitioner and engineering consultant with a strong client focus and excellent communication skills. He is a Certified Counter Terrorism Practitioner (CCTP) with over eight years of work experience within a consulting engineering environment in both the electrical and security design disciplines. Richard fully understands the RIBA design stages and is capable of taking projects through from conception through to completion. He possess excellent AutoCAD skills and has also overseen teams of CAD designers using Revit. Previous projects includes; Caprice Gold 7* Hotel, Istanbul, Military Facility, Abu Dhabi & The Heron 36-storey residential Tower in the city of London.

Alan Meyrick MSc CPP

Security Consultant

Alan is highly skilled security practitioner with 14 years of experience. It is his knowledge of risk and security methodologies and theories that provides a robust underpinning to the consultancy work he undertakes, allowing him to deliver risk-based projects across numerous environments and sectors. Alan has successfully transitioned his own roles, focusing on delivering risk assessments and risk analysis products for transnational clients, and providing and supporting fee-paying consultancy work in the sports and leisure, services, financial and petrochemical industries. Areas of expertise include the application of Risk Management and the Risk Assessment cycle (ISO 31000), Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED, Situational Crime Prevention paradigms and Counter-Terrorism strategies. Alan has an MSc in Security and Risk Management, graduating from Leicester University, a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) ASIS, BTEC Level 4 in Managing Security Surveys, C & G Level 4 in Security Risk Management and PTTLS Training Qualification.

Aras Jaly Zada BSc MSc PhD

Senior BIM and CAD Engineer

Aras is a qualified Civil Engineer and 2D + 3D CAD specialist. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Nottingham (July 2016) in the areas of Building Information Modelling (BIM) application, design change management, and collaborative design. Aras has experience in design, construction, and supervision of engineering works besides teaching at the university for a couple of years as a Master Holder. Prior to joining SGW, Aras worked with three consultancy companies / bureaus in Iraq and another in France. He has worked on a range of engineering projects, such as hospitals, industrial, and commercials buildings. In addition, he has great skills in supervision and monitoring different projects as well as the preparation of bill of quantities, and cost estimates works. Aras is fully conversant with AutoCAD, which he has used for more than nineteen years. He is also proficient in 3D modelling with Revit software.

Kate Whitehouse BSc

Finance Manager

Kate holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management from a St. Joseph’s College, Philippines. She has over 17 years of experience in Human Resources, Administration, Accounts and Logistics, with the last five years focused on Finance and Administration Management of SGW across three offices in the Middle East, United Kingdom and Asia. Kate is also a qualified BSI Auditor and is responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of SGW’s Quality Management System which is externally accredited by British Standards Institution (BSI) to ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Marina Kirby BA (hons)

Marketing and Administration Coordinator

Marina has recently graduated with a BA Hons Degree in Magazine Journalism at the University of Sunderland. Whilst studying for her degree, she also gained a diploma in the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). Marina gained experience through a work placement within a marketing and branding department and was involved with a series of marketing projects. Marina has a passion for marketing, possesses excellent communications skills, the ability to overcome challenges and apply her strategic but creative mind to the marketing area of SGW. Her experience includes working on a sponsored celebrity book tour marketing campaign, producing copy and designing a monthly customer magazine and marketing a newly refurbished hotel and spa through social media, PR emails and via radio, television and internet advertising.

Philippe has over twenty years in the private sector background, in the security domain, within specialised companies, integrators and consultancy firms. Philippe brings relevant experience in international projects - France, Middle-East, Africa - especially in the sectors of Oil and Gas, Energy, Defence and Transportation. Philippe has a wide and excellent knowledge of technologies, standards, risk management methodologies and best practices for the implementation of physical and technical security countermeasures. Recent projects which Philippe has managed includes Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, Safety and Security submissions for YAS Island Theme Parks, Zone 2 and ADPC Kizad Master Plan. He is also senior consultant on Dubai Properties Group / Tecom Investments projects at Butterfly, DMC and Dubai Design District.

Barry Walker BA CPP Mem RSES

Senior Security Consultant

Barry is an experienced, multi-lingual (German, Russian, French) Security Advisor for the Built Environment with considerable expertise in security surveying, threat and risk assessments and security auditing, especially public buildings, including university campuses, hospitals, etc. He applies the principles of Secure by Design to many of the projects he is involved in, and is familiar with the principles and requirements of this important Police initiative. He is one of a few advisor's capable of writing coherent and comprehensive security and emergency procedures. Barry has over 42 years' experience in Security and has worked on several multi-discipline projects in both the public and private sectors.

Carl is a CCTV, Security & Electrical Engineer with considerable design, commissioning and project management experience of public space surveillance CCTV schemes, working for some of the UK’s major integrators. Carl provides SGW a technical capability with preparation of reports, method statements, risk assessments, programs of work, payment applications and O&M documentation as well as the preparation of variation works including costing and quote submission to Client; Carl has direct experience of managing public space CCTV consultancy assignments in Solihull, Mansfield, Cardiff, Shrewsbury, Sandwell & Bury St Edmunds.

Crowd Safety Consultant

Mohamed is a specialist Crowd Dynamics and Emergency Management consultant. Who specialises in analysing people movement and flow through space under both normal and emergency circumstances to achieve optimum space performance with higher levels of safety and security.
Using cutting edge simulations and robust crowd modelling he takes the unknowns out of the planning and decision making process. His work includes transport, education, hospitality, sports and entertainment venues. Previously Mohamed has worked on projects at Canary Wharf and Abu Dhabi Airport.

Where his clients included major Industrial companies such as Aramco, Sabic and Ma’aden. He is an incorporated engineer (IEng), and a project management professional, completing his Prince 2 Foundation course.

He has completed numerous projects across the defence, nuclear, oil & gas, insurance and commercial sectors; providing support to consultancies, contractors and manufacturers of façade, window and door products.

Dave Cox

David is an independent CCTV consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in the CCTV industry as well as other affiliated electronic security systems. David ran his own very successful CCTV company for 10 years, with clients ranging from MOD and Government to large Blue Chip organisations. The company carried out many high profile installations throughout the country many of which were fully integrated security systems. David became an independent consultant in 1998 and has since successfully completed projects for town centres, public transport and educational clients. David holds many BTEC qualifications and is also a qualified tutor trainer to deliver SGW’s technical CCTV and Security project management courses

CPTED Security Specialist

Ian’s expertise centres around his knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). This enables detailed analysis of the opportunities to improve security by manipulation of hard and soft landscape, lighting, surveillance (both natural and by formal means such as CCTV), identification of potential control mechanisms and positions for barriers and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation. He has extensive practical and theoretic knowledge of the mechanisms involved in the crime prevention process and has specialised in the field for more than twenty years.

Graham is a Qualified trainer to Security Industry standards in several vocational areas and a qualified Skills Coach. He is an NVQ Assessor, Standards Verifier, Editor and writer for a number of Awarding Bodies. Graham delivers operational security training both in the UK and Internationally, and is vetted and screened in accordance with the BS7858:2006. Externally accredited SGW courses delivered by Graham includes First Aid, Customer Care, Close Protection, Door Supervisor, Level 3 Award in Security Operations and Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (QCF).
