SGW’s appointment by ADPC was focused on the comprehensive provision of technical and operational security consultancy services for Kizad port industrial zone.

The appointment included supporting their concept and detailed master plan applications with safety & security deliverables to the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), at pre-planning, planning, and design stages.

Kizard Port is part of a large investment in transportation, industrial services, and shipping in the UAE. Although already functional and operational, the aspiration is to grow the port to one of the largest in the world by 2030. Not only was the site already gigantic, Kizad is set to expand to become one of the world’s largest industrial zones. It will stretch over an extraordinary 418 square kilometres – two thirds the size of Singapore. The mega-project, a cornerstone of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 which diversifies the economy in pursuit of non-oil and gas revenue, is expected within 18 years to contribute up to 15% of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil GDP. Its on-site anchor tenant, Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), went into production with the largest greenfield single-site aluminium smelter in the world in 2009.

The Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) is a master developer of ports and industrial zones in Abu Dhabi. SGW were appointed by Abu Dhabi Ports Company in December 2013, to provide Safety & Security Master Planning Services for Kizad.
