Perimeter Intruder Detection Systems (PIDS) are often a key component of the security strategy for a high security site which is not located in the public domain. A Perimeter Intruder Detection System allows you to monitor your sites extremities as part of a deter, detect, delay and deny strategy. SGW’s Security Consultant’s can assess and recommend appropriate technology from unbiased viewpoint of what is required to protect your perimeter and what technology should be utilised to alert your security systems to unauthorised persons making attempts to breach the outermost defence of your site.
SGW have previous project based experience in the completion of Perimeter Intruder Detection System (PIDS) consulting assignments for critical national infrastructure (CNI) classified sites, in accordance with the United Kingdom Home Office and Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) Guidance Publications & Standards, which cover Specification, Installation, System management and maintenance, PIDS application types, Electrified fences and Video based detection systems.
Other previous SGW Perimeter Intruder Detection System (PIDS) consulting assignments include; Example 1) Appointment by a Saudi Arabian Government Client to technically assess and evaluate tender submission by security contractors for the protection of a 14 km perimeter fence and sterile zone creation around a diplomatic quarter; Example 2) Appointment by a high net worth individual to design, tender and supervise the installation of a discreet buried cable detection system around the grounds of a country mansion house.
A standard Perimeter Intruder detection system (PIDS) works by having areas of the perimeter fence split into zones which have cabling that senses both cut and climb based attacks and then alerting a further security system to that attack. SGW can help you combine the standard PIDS system with automatic security lighting and CCTV to focus in on the zone that has been breached allowing a more comprehensive intelligence to allow your security to mount an appropriate option to prevent any further access on to your site.
Depending on your site will depend if you have a large overt security fence or more subtle plot demarcation that is in keeping with the environment. In keeping with with the local environment buried line detection that is completely hidden underground may be a more suitable form of perimeter intrusion detection system. For large areas of open space a set of mounted microwave/radar sensors may be a better solution, especially when camouflaged into the surrounding environment.
SGW are also able to offer advice on systems to allow the detection of intruders on sites where there is no perimeter fence, or were the installation of one would be unsightly. SGW can work with you and your contractor on wall and building mounted PIDS as well as underground PIDS or CCTV based PIDS. SGW can help recommend products and a strategy to help with putting any contract for out for tender and the actual project management of such work.
