Alan is highly skilled security practitioner with 14 years’ experience. His knowledge of risk and security methodologies and theories provides a robust underpinning to the consultancy work he undertakes, allowing him to deliver risk-based projects across numerous environments and sectors.
Alan has successfully transitioned his own roles, focusing on delivering risk assessments and risk analysis products for transnational clients, and providing and supporting fee-paying consultancy work in the sports and leisure, services, financial and petrochemical industries.
Alan’s areas of expertise include the application of Risk Management and the Risk Assessment cycle (ISO 31000), Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Situational Crime Prevention paradigms and Counter-Terrorism strategies.
In previous years Alan has managed two onsite teams, recruiting and replacing staff, ensuring 24/7 coverage, compliance with Health and Safety legislation, front-of-house client interaction and liaison with senior management and emergency services. He also has experience working within criminological research and security consultancy for the UK Home Office and the UK’s Security Industry Authority (SIA), with bespoke consultancy work and wider research into risk mitigation practices. Through his wealth of experience, Alan has developed strong interpersonal and communication skills and therefore, is the ideal candidate for SGW.
Along with an extensive range of in the field experience Alan has several related academic achievements including, an MSc in Security and Risk Management, a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) ASIS, BTEC Level 4 in Managing Security Surveys, C & G Level 4 in Security Risk Management and PTTLS Training Qualification.
Most recently, Alan has spent the last few years working on varied international projects surrounding his extensive knowledge and experience of Threat and Risk Assessments (TARA), prior to his move to SGW in September 2017.
